Silvercore MC Pro Step up transformer

The MC Pro is Silvercore’s flagship Step up transformer, made with the greatest attention to detail possible. It uses 99.99% pure silver wire custom drawn to their specification and large amorphous toroidal cores resulting in a primary winding with an incredibly low 0.1 Ohm DC resistance. The response of the transformers is extremely flat meaning there’s no need for loading resistors which will result in a very dynamic sound quality.

The transformer is available as fully balanced (with XLR connectors for use with balanced wired tonearms) or single ended with RCA (phono) sockets.

The case features stainless steel panels and is available with white Delrin, black acrylic or wood side pieces (Zebrano is the standard wood finish, but others are available to order)

Widea Lab’s Audio Renderer

Widea Lab is a young Korean company. The company says they’ve got some strong candidates for US distribution and will also be selling via Amazon. Their first product, the Aurender (short for Audio Renderer; $5700), is a digital music server utilizing a customized Linux OS, linear power supply, and storage for over 5000 lossless and uncompressed CDs. It offers coaxial, optical, and AES/EBU outputs and can be controlled using a clever iPad app which displays album art, all useful metadata, and, on first glance, even seemed friendly to classical music.

The DAC boasts a digital to analog converter with low jitter clock and enhanced operation. The DAC accepts up to 24/192 digital input from USB, coaxial SPDIF and Toslink SPDIF inputs. Immediately upon returning to the analog domain, the audio signal is passed to EAR's propreitary analog filter. The audio is output from a transformer-coupled ECC88 tube line output stage as in EAR pro audio equipment. This allows true floating balanced output as well as identical quality unbalanced line out by RCA connectors. The maximum output is 5 volt, which means it can drive directly any power amplifier of any type, with analog volume control that can be controlled by remote handset. This claims accurate, clean smooth sound, yet detailed, open and dynamic, lacking the overly-crisp, a musicality of many highly-regarded digital to analog converters.
