InfigoAudio IS-1

The streamer is the culmination of multiple, unique digital source product developments in the classic Infigo style designed enclosure.

There are three versions: Performance, Signature and Cryogen.

Product highlights:

USB audio optimized connection to a DAC for highest possible sample rates of digital music

Built in ultra low noise linear power supply creates very low noise floor, creating a very black music background

Network attached internal local storage of music (up to 4TB) to play music local direct to DAC

Fiber optic isolation of network connection to block network noise creates a separation between the ‘dirty’ network and clean audio chain

Ultra low jitter re-clocking of network audio packets (Signature and Cryogen version) eliminates the need for audiophile grade network gear

Built in local webpage with all control functions easily accessible via a browser in the network

Four different modes of operation to be compatible with 99% of music players in the market: Audirvana, uPnP, Roon, HQPlayer

Powerful Intel Quad Core CPU with one high speed core fully dedicated to music gives optimum sound quality for all modes of operation

Cryogenically treated internal cable model available (Cryogen version)

The new Infigo Audio Streamer IS-1, like all other Infigo products, has a clear top panel cover that shows the blue LED illuminated internals

The blue front panel LEDs can be dimmed via the built in local webpage, which also gives a status information overview panel and a settings menu to change the mode of operation

The internal local music storage presents itself on the network as a network drive and is compatible with most Windows, Mac and Linux systems

The streamer can operate as an Audirvana Server, Roon Endpoint, HQPlayer Network Audio Adapter or Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) music endpoint, which covers 99% of music players in the market

All of these modes of operation run exclusively on a dedicated high speed processor core to make sure nothing interrupts the precious audio process while playing. This streamer will get the best out of any USB DAC

The gigabit fiber optic isolated network connection eliminates network noise and jitter. The optic converters in the unit are powerful enough to bridge a fiber cable more than 10 miles long

The streamer comes standard with an armored fiber optic cable of 3 meters but can be supplied with different lengths on request

The base model, Performance, lists at $3500, the Signature model lists at $5000 and the Cryogen model $7000

Chord Reference DSX1000 Network Streamer

The new DSX1000 is a high-performance digital network streamer that at its heart, boasts our world-renowned proprietary DAC technology. The latest-generation Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) architecture found inside the DSX1000, is the same advanced technology used in the highly acclaimed QBD76 HDSD DAC and the Red Reference MkIII CD player, giving the DSX1000 a significant sonic advantage over ordinary network players with off-the-shelf DAC chips.

The FPGA handles all the digital data decoding, clocking, WTA filtering and the 5th generation Pulse Array DAC. Improvements to the Pulse Array DAC have
been further complimented with an enhanced power supply design and layout, giving the very best digital-to-analogue conversion available. The DSX1000’s streaming engine is directly coupled into our own DAC technology, which carefully re-clocks all data, removing many of the jitter issues that can affect other products where the DAC is coupled into the main streaming chip.

The DSX1000 features UPnP/DLNA access and control and is capable of transforming the sound of MP3, WMA, WAV, AAC, ALAC and FLAC files, with 24-bit/192kHz support where available, and follows the success of our debut streamer, the Chordette Index. Key features include an inbuilt analogue volume control circuit, as used in our CPA8000 Reference preamp, which gives highly accurate volume adjustment without the problems and low-level distortions associated with digital volume controls normally found in streaming products.

The player also boasts both volume-controlled and line-level analogue outputs which feature both balanced XLR and RCA phono connections. The network connection is via a fixed-wired ethernet port due to the bandwidth limitations of Wi-Fi for 24/192kHz support (ethernet-over-mains connections can also be used if required).

The DSX10000 has a full-colour 3.5-inch TFT front-panel display showing album artwork, set up options etc. and conventional control is via a unique front-panel cursor button that illuminates depending on the button pressed. Remote control is also available. The unit can also be enjoyed using many of the UPnP apps for the iPhone, iPad and Android devices. We will also be offering a custom version of SongBook for the DSX1000, which will be available to download from iTunes soon. An Android version may also be available later on.

As with all of our products, the DSX1000 is carefully made by hand in Kent with an advanced chassis and casework machined from aircraft-grade aluminium. The unit’s top-plate has been carefully machined to reveal the technology beneath and an elegant internal lighting system compliments the aesthetic.

Naim ND5 XS streaming player

The ND5 XS fits into the line-up below the NDX, selling for around £1925 when it hits the shops next month, and is designed to complement the other models in Naim's slimline XS series.

It's also the first Naim network player able to handle 192kHz/24-bit content natively, and the company is rolling out an upgrade program for existing Uniti products and the NDX, enabling 192/24 on those products, and bringing the promise of AirPlay capability early in 2012.

As well as having both wired and wireless networking for the streaming of content from the internet, including internet radio, or from local network sources such as NAS drives or computers, the ND5 XS also has three digital inputs for external sources, and a front panel USB socket for memory devices or direct digital connection of iPods or iPhones.

As well as its 24-bit/192kHz capability, the ND5 XS can handle music in a wide range of formats, including WAV, FLAC, AIFF, AAC, WMA, Ogg Vorbis and MP3 formats.

The ND5 XS uses digital buffering with fixed sampling rates for zero jitter, while the proprietary 16 times oversampling and digital filter uses SHARC 40-bit floating point digital signal processing. This feeds Burr Brown PCM1791A digital to analogue conversion, running at 768kHz.

There are seperate power supplies for the digital, analogue, DSP and clock sections of the player, with the large toroidal transformer having separate outputs for each section

Optical connection is used between the various sections of the player, seen left in a typical XS system here at the show, to ensure complete galvanic isolation.

Like the NDX, the new model can also be upgraded with the addition of the XPS or 555PS power supplies, or the Naim DAC, while a dedicated slimline power supply in a matching case, the XP5 XS is on the way next year.

Selling for around £1500, this is will be an entry-level version of the XPS.

And also in common with the NDX, the new model can be fitted with an optional radio tuner module, giving FM/DAB reception.

The ND5 XS can be controlled using the front-panel controls or the remote handset supplied, or using the free n-Stream app on iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad.
