VdH The Excalibur
€19500 /pr
After The Grail SB (Phone-amplifier) and The Emerald (Pre-amplifier), the last item in our electronic equipment range: The Excalibur (Power-amplifier) is available now.
Our employee Juergen Ultee has really created a super design. The two The Excalibur mono-amplifiers were, for the first time, demonstrated during the Munich Hi-End show.
As you can see at the picture taken in the demo-room.
The 26 Kg. housing is the same as used before in The Grail SB and The Emerald.
And the dark red wooden side panels produce a very attractive visual cosmetic tough.
Some of the interesting specs are:
Completely DC coupled circuitry. To work also in warm environments, the temperature is constantly monitored and active controlled by two extremely silent air-vans. This gives a very compact design related to the produced power of minimal 100 Watt at 8 Ohm load impedance. The clipping level is 112 Watt at 8 Ohm. And at 4 Ohm load impedance, the output is 130 W. The clipping level is at 4 Ohm over 150 Watt.
The output of The Excalibur is protected against shunts of any type and any DC input.
The frequency range is limited at the input at 380 KHz.. The amplifier without input limitations is flat till over 10 MHz. This to create equal internal signal speed for both 10 Hz and 100 KHz. to maintain very precise phase relations and related spacious orientation.
The input connectors are both balanced (33 KOhm) and unbalanced (26 KOhm).
An extra XLR connector is available to link trough to another Excalibur in case you like to work Bi-Amped.
The power voltage needs to be specified: 120 V or 230 Volt.
For packing we use the same sturdy cases as are already used for The Grail SB and The Emerald.
Also two versions in cosmetics: The regular crème version with the dark-red side panels and also a black version with light wooden side panels. And in case your customer wants Ferrari red housing, we will supply on specification with some extra cost.
Duelund RS Copper foil Capacitor
We are starting first production batch of the new Duelund RS copper capacitor. Available in loudspeaker and electronic renditions.
The Duelund RS will substitute the VSF in our line up bringing a more CAST like level of performance to a much lower price range, than previously possible.

TotalDAC DSD option
Vincent Brient of TotalDAC reports that they now offer a DSD option for all d1 Series Vishay-foil R2R ladder DACs.
They still work the same way for PCM but now also accept DSD in the standard DoP format via USB, AES/EBU and S/PDIF. The 69-bit volume control also works with DSD so the preamp functionality remains.
Our USB to AES/EBU reclocker now also accepts DSD and can transform DSD to 24/176.4 PCM with volume control. This can make any DAC DSD-ready. Our music server too handles DSD via DoP or converts it to PCM.

Jakutis turntables are made from high quality materials: stainless steel, bronze, brass, granite, specific woods, processed using the latest technology (cnc machining, plasma coating and others). The selection of all technical solutions is based on the given acoustical requirements. Serious consideration is given to the appearance of the turntable, as a good-sounding turntable must be also be a good-looking object in the user’s home.
Basic Concept of Jakutis Design
A very heavy table utilizing spherical rubber dampers to support a heavy sub-chassis. The sub-chassis carries a heavy platter as well as the tonearm. This assembly (the tonearm, platter and sub-chassis) constitute a single, independent structure, floating on spherical dampers. A low-power but extremely stable synchronous motor is located on the table and drives the platter via a belt.
Turntable Core Parts
1. Stand and Table:
Some turntables ( Stork and Dalia, for example ) have legs, because they are heavy , thus they do not require additional stands or tables. The legs are made of stainless steel tubes, filled with acoustic damping material. The stands can be leveled by tuning the spiked feet of each leg. The legs support a 60mm (Dalia, Milky Stork) or 40mm (Black Stork) thick table, measuring 470x 470mm and made of granite . The lower part of the legs is combined 30mm (Dalia, Milky Stork) or 20mm (Black Stork) thick granite panel. The foot spikes sit on flat pads.
2. Sub-chassis:
All turntables have one of two types of sub-chassis : conical, made of marble with triangular frame ( Milky Stork, Black Stork, Dalia ) or plate-type, made of granite ( Starling, Ouzel ). A triangular frame is made of stainless steel tube which is then filled with an acoustic damping material. Marble was chosen because for its good acoustic and mechanical properties. Plate type granite can be made of Matrix Anticato (Starling). This naturally occurring composite stone was formed during the cooling of molten lava, and has a laminated structure; it is well suited to the damping of ambient vibrations. The plate-type sub-chassis (see Emu ) can accommodate two or three tonearms.
3. Suspension:
The sub-chassis rests on spherical elastic dampers which in turn rest on machined bronze supports. The height of each support can be adjusted to level the platter. The dampers themselves, being spherical, absorb shock from all sides equally. Dampers of varying elasticity are available and are easily replaced.
4. Magnetic Bearing:
The bearing is a classic type – a 9mm steel shaft within a steel sleeve. The outer surface of the shaft and inner surface of the sleeve are precisely polished. The difference is that tip of shaft rests not on steel or ceramic ball, as usual, but on magnetic pillow, created by two neodymium magnets. This eliminates hard mechanical thrusts between the shaft and bottom of bearing and reduces vibrations of the platter. As the diameter of magnets is only one inch and the distance to tonearm is long, this does not affect the cartridge. The assembly is located in a 35mm diameter stainless steel housing that is filled with oil.
5. Motor:
The platter is driven by a low-speed (250 rpm) synchronous Crouzet motor, mounted to 5 a kg bronze body in a stainless steel housing.
6. Platter:
The platter can be made of brass, brass with acrylic insert, aluminum with acrylic insert. Diameter of platter – 320mm , weights about 10 kg.

Sparkos Labs Discrete Op Amps
Sparkos Labs has created a family of discrete op amps in an 8 pin DIP compatible package optimized for high performance audio applications.
These devices are drop in replacements for many common, yet inferior audio op amps and are uniquely compensated for trouble-free swap out into virtually any circuit. Having a footprint of a mere 0.33 square inches, these devices are one-third the size of any other discrete op amp on the market.
Class A biasing and high output current capability coupled with a proprietary compensation scheme requiring multiple NPO dielectric capacitors make these discrete op amps impossible to fabricate as a monolithic IC. These devices utilize matched transistor pairs encapsulated within a single device package for the input stage and internal current mirrors, which retains the advantage that monolithics have with device matching.
Sparkos Labs offers an extremely high loop gain device at 140dB to 600Hz, and a low loop gain device at 68dB with an ultrasonic pole (coming soon). Each device is fully specified, and is available as a single or dual discrete op amp.

JMF Audio PCD302 Power Line Filter and Distributor
As much optimized an audio system can be it will never reveal its full potential without a clean mains power supply. Following the success of the PC3 power cord for the significant sound quality improvement that comes along, JMF Audio brings a total answer: the PCD302 power line filter and distributor, world first concept!
The PCD302's exclusive bi-directional and independent filtering principle suppresses power line disturbances coming from the outside as well as interactions between audio gears.
Dual mono concept
Each mono section powered through an attached JMF Audio PC3 cord
Phase detection on each input
Bi-directional JMF Audio BDF223 filtering!
The PCD302 contains 6 enormous, hand wrapped, potted BDF223 filters
10 filtered outputs of which 6 are totally independent
Sequential power output to reduce in-rush currents on the mains
Case and front panel size identical to the JMF Audio power amplifiers
A single front panel button to power-on and power-off the main power supply
Mounted on sub-chassis, acoustically floating, vibration free
Soundproof case
Total power handling: over 7kW
